2. We will talk about the schedule we will follow each day, centers and what we will do at each one.
3. We will set up class rules together, as the teacher writes the rules on chart paper and reads it back to the kids as we go. We may end up making one easy-to-remember rule: "You can do anything that doesn't hurt yourself, someone else, or Miss Chelsea's property." It pretty much covers EVERYTHING!
4. We'll take a tour of the room, providing names for materials and areas.
Learning Centers (AM 9:30-10:15..PM 1:00-1:45)
*Creative Art: Watercolor Painting *Messy Table: Scooping beans
*Cut and Color Table: Collage - materials such as scraps of paper, glue, tape, glitter, sticky dots, fabric scraps and markers will be provided and the children can create a collage.
*Dramatic Play: Puppets - Encourage the children to us puppets to show and/or tell about their school experiences and school rules and just role play.
*Blocks - Block Building with cars - cars will be added and children will be encouraged to make highways and bridges for them.
Snack (small groups come at different times to eat during Self-Selected Activities. Unless we are making our snack, then we will eat it during small group.)
*Snack - pretzels and water
Outside Play (AM 10:20-10:30..PM 1:50-2:00)
Closing Circle (AM 10:30-11:00..PM 2:00-2:30)
*Music and Movement - We'll play marching music and invite the children to march in a parade with instraments.*To finish whole group, we'll play the name game.....If the teacher calls your name, that child jumps up and says one other person in the room that they know. We'll go into talking about what each of us likes to do and what our favorite things are.
